Young actress Melinda Howard has just returned to New York from touring in England. She decides to surprise her mother who she thinks is a successful Broadway star with a mansion in Manhattan. In reality though life is not so rosy for her mother who is a burnt-out cabaret singer with an excessive love for whisky. During her visit Melinda becomes involved with a famous dancer/singer (Farnham) who falls in love with her and an aging, married millionaire (Hubbell) whose friendship leads to zany complications with his wife.

    I have always loved Doris Day in whatever she did. The last time I saw her was on her TV show when she did an interview with Rock Hudson. She is and always will be an amazing role model for me to look up to.
