British chat show host Jonathon Ross presents new BBC documentary “Doris Day – Hollywood Greats”April 25, 2002 1 Comment
In April 2002, the British television network BBC1 broadcast a 40 minute documentary about Doris Day coinciding with her 78th birthday. This formed part of the BBC’s “Hollywood Greats” series hosted by Jonathon Ross.
Directed by Elaine Donnelly, the biography was the station’s first production paying homage to Ms. Day since they profiled her back in 1989 on the acclaimed “I Don’t Even Like Apple Pie”.
The BBC’s latest venture did not include any new interview footage with the star. However, it did feature clips from their 1989 bio as well as Ms. Day’s films. Additionally, there were new contributions from her son Terry Melcher & co-stars Howard Keel, John Rait, Kaye Ballard as well as Mary Quant & crooner Andy Williams.
To coincide with this transmission of this documentary Doris Day’s record label Sony Music released a new 2CD set entitled “Doris Day – 41 Hollywood Greats“.Archive News
