Fans will be thrilled to learn that the new GRAMMY® museum will open with a special Doris Day exhibit.

The new GRAMMY Museum opens to the public in December 2008. It occupies a vibrant new space in downtown Los Angeles at 714 W. Olympic BLVD in L.A. 90015 (USA). The museum is billed as an exciting, interactive celebration of the power of music and celebrates the enduring legacies of all its forms; the creative process; the art and technology of the recording process; and the history of the GRAMMY Awards, the premier recognition of recorded music accomplishment.

This site is pleased to reveal that the 50th GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Doris Day will have a special exhibit which will run from 8 December 2008 to 8 March 2009. Ken Viste, Chief Curator of the GRAMMY Museum, has given special attention to iconic Ms. Day with the help of long time GRAMMY Member and Nominee Pierre Patrick. [ Pierre as many will know headed a long writing campaign that started 15 years ago to induct Doris Day in its Hall of Fame. ]

Doris Day has had an interesting journey with the GRAMMYs; according to “And the Grammy Goes To…” by David Wild. Doris was part of the foundation of the GRAMMYs in 1958; she would receive her first nomination that year and a second in 1960. Doris also recorded some remarkable albums in the sixties which are today considered as treasures, such as “Bright and Shiny” with Neal Hefti, “Duet” with Andre Previn and “Love Him” produced by Terry Melcher.

The GRAMMY Hall of Fame finally recognised Miss Day in 1998 when they inducted her 1945 first #1 with Les Brown “Sentimental Journey” and in 1999 her Oscar winning song “Secret Love”. In 2008, Ms. Day was the 20th female artist to receive the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award.
