British Doris Day musical debuts in London’s East end during 2010

November 5, 2009 No Comments

‘A Sentimental Journey: The Story Of Doris Day’, began its life in the early part of 2009 at The Mill at Sonning, a quaint regional theatre near Reading.

Part stage drama, part musical extravaganza the show written by Adam Rolston and directed by Emmy Award-winning Alvin Rakoff brings to life the story on and off screen of the magical Ms. Doris Day featuring her most beloved songs, such as: “Sentimental Journey”, “Que Sera Sera”, “Tea Or Two”, “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps”, “It’s Magic”, “Love Me Or Leave Me”, “The Deadwood Stage” and “Secret Love”.

The production which charmed local theatre goers in Oxfordshire and received rave reviews from the British press is soon to make a hop, skip and a jump to London’s East End. Sally Hughes – artistic director at The Mill – will reprise her role as the star of the show which opens at Wilton’s Music Hall on the 11th March 2010 and runs until the day after Doris’s 86th birthday (4th April 2010). The theatre is located around 10 minutes walk from the Tower Hill and Aldgate East underground subways.

“I was never a Doris Day fan. Until now. Before I set to work directing A Sentimental Journey, a new musical about Day” – Alvin Rakoff
