Terry Melcher’s rare 1974 solo album featuring Doris Day re-issued in the US on CD

May 10, 2005 1 Comment

The son of Doris Day, Terry Melcher was a key player on the Los Angeles music scene of the 1960s and early ’70s. He  is best known for having aided the careers of Ry Cooder, the Beach Boys and the Byrds having produced for them hit singles such as “Mr. Tambourine Man” and “Turn, Turn, Turn”.

Terry was however a critically acclaimed musician in his own right something which he found time, during the 1970s, to advance after he signed to Warner/Reprise. In 1974, Terry released an eponymous album featuring a collaboration with his mother, who had not released a record since the late 1960s. Doris  provided backing vocals for his sad song “These Days”. In 1976, Terry followed with another solo album “Royal Flush” this time with RCA/BMG.

Terry Melcher sadly passed away in November 2004. On the 31 May 2005, Collectors Choice USA release in celebration of Terry’s life his Reprise solo album, “Terry Melcher”.
