July 18, 2006 No CommentsThe 1994 movie “Don’t Pave Main Street: Carmel’s Heritage” narrated by Clint Eastwood offers a revealing look at the group of bohemians whose ecological passions, unorthodox lifestyles and artistic achievements were largely responsible for making Carmel (CA) what it is today.
Through personal interviews and historic photographs, the 1 hr. 53 min. documentary film tells the story of Carmel which is beloved as the jewel of the California Coast and the place that inspired Robert Louis Stevenson to write “Treasure Island”. Of great interest to Doris Day fans is the fact she appears in the film talking about Carmel.
