Doris Day calls in live on her local radio station during their annual “birthday” tributeApril 4, 2010 1 Comment
Doris Day for a 4th consecutive year phoned in for a telephone chat with her local radio station.
Doris Day’s local radio station KIDD 630-AM (formerly known as MAGIC 63 AM) broadcasts to the Monterey Bay Area of California. The station recently changed its name and format from Adult Standards to Oldies and now to ESPN sports – except for Saturdays and Sundays. The burning question for months now was therefore will these changes effect the station’s annual birthday broadcast?!
Well, thankfully, there was no change (at least for 2010) and a special 4-hour tribute show hosted by the station’s long-term DJ Ed Dickinson began on Saturday, April 3rd at 8am (Pacific Standard time). It included many classic Doris Day music recordings with messages from the star’s fans from around the world and co-stars such as A.E. Hotchner (DD’s official biographer), actress Jackie Joseph (Co-star from “The DD Show”), author Pierre Patrick, singer Nellie McKay and Les Brown Jnr. Doris Day also called in during the third hour of the show for a live-on-air chat.
Don’t worry if you live outside of the Monterey Bay Area as for a limited time you can listen to the entire broadcast online. The station has created a special page which is now linked below. Go to “Part 7” of the broadcast if you want to skip to Doris’s telephone chat. I’ll tell you now she sounded in such great health, is full of the joys of spring and keeping as busy as ever with her animal welfare work.
Big thanks to KIDD-AM and all the wonderful people who played a part in producing and preparing for this lovely tribute show (that includes DD!).Tags: radioArchive News
