Mattel reveal their new ‘Barbie’ tribute to Rock Hudson and Doris Day doll giftset at the 2011 New York International ToyfairFebruary 17, 2011 17 Comments
Later this year, the American toy manufacturer Mattel will release a new celebrity collection of ‘Barbie’ doll gift sets which are dressed up in outfits associated with some of the most legendary stars and characters of TV, film and music.
One of the sets which has been produced pays tribute to Hollywood’s ultimate golden couple Rock Hudson and Doris Day. It celebrates their most iconic on-screen pairing in the 1959 motion picture “Pillow Talk”. The two dolls feature authentic fashions from the award-winning romantic comedy which centred around the perky interior designer Jan Morrow (Doris) and “womanizing” cad Brad Allen (Rock). The set was notably produced with the approval and assistance of Ms. Day and her management.
Other celebrity Barbies will be of “Frank Sinatra”, Grace Kelly, Reba McEntire, Elvis Presley, “I Love Lucy”, “Bewitched”, “I Dream of Jeannie”, Dynasty’s Alexis and Farrah Fawcett.
Mattel revealed their new dolls at the 2011 New York International Toyfair. The series is expected to be available across the USA this summer from all good toys stores such as Toys “R” Us and Walmart. We have also created a special page devoted to the “Pillow Talk” doll set with links to buy it online.
More news will be provided as we have it. We understand the “Pillow Talk” set (item #V7160) should retail around $70USD.
