The acclaimed British musical production ‘A Sentimental Journey: The Story Of Doris Day’  has announced new dates which includes the El Portal Theatre in California (USA).

The show – part stage drama & musical extravaganza – is written by Adam Rolston and directed by Emmy Award-winning Alvin Rakoff . It brings to life the ‘on and off screen’ story of the magical Ms. Doris Day featuring renditions of her most beloved songs, such as: “Sentimental Journey”, “Que Sera Sera”, “Tea for Two”, “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps”, “It’s Magic”, “Love Me Or Leave Me”, “The Deadwood Stage” and “Secret Love”.

In 2009, the all-new production made its debut at The Mill at Sonning – a small regional theatre located in the heart of Britain’s picturesque Oxfordshire countryside -  a year after charming local theatre goers and critics alike the show made a successful transition to England’s capital city London where it received an equally warm reception.

Sally Hughes – artistic director at The Mill – will reprise her role as the star of the show for the new dates just announced. These include the first performances of the show on American soil with a 3 week run at the historical El Portal Theatre in Los Angeles from 2-20 November 2011.

Before heading across the Atlantic, Sally and the cast are bringing ‘A Sentimental Journey…’ to audiences in Scotland at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival (from the 5-29 August) followed by a return to The Mill at Sonning Theatre in Sonning Eye (from 8 September – 15th October 2011).
