British radio and press go wild for Doris Day’s big music comeback “My Heart”August 21, 2011 No Comments
The big campaign to “spread the word” about the Hollywood star’s new album “My Heart” really seems to be picking up momentum as the British press are literally filled with articles about Ms. Day’s big music comeback. We understand this is someting reflected also in Germany where her album is soon to be released on CD.
Today, on BBC Radio 2, Michael Ball’s “Sunday Brunch” show broadcast his all-new telephone interview with darling Doris where they talked for 1/2 an hour about her album, life and career. When asked by Michael about her new album, she replied “It’s such fun to be doing this and I hope it will be enjoyed.” As BBC Radio 2 is the “most listened to” radio station in the UK it guarantees that Day’s first British interview in 17 years will have been heard by millions of music lovers. The presenter also notably revealed how he had been commissioned to work on a new Doris Day documentary for the station which will be aired Christmas 2011.
We are actually feeling pretty pleased with BBC Radio 2 as many of its big-named presenters have shown overwhelming love and support for Doris’ new album. Her radio-only single “Heaven Tonight” is also still holding onto a spot on one of the station’s three major playlists – this coming week the single is on the ‘C-List’ [alongside a new song from Barbra Streisand] indicating it will receive the 3rd greatest airplay for the next 7 days.
Over the last few days, Sony Music’s press machine really seems to be kicking into overdrive with a whole heap of articles published about Doris’ big music comeback (example links are below). All of this much needed publicity will certainly help Doris’ chances of scoring a hit on the British album charts. Other indicators of a renewed interest in Ms. Day is her name has regularly been trending on Twitter as being one of the most tweeted subjects and crucially her “My Heart” album has been fluttering in and out of mega-giant retailer amazon.co.uk’s ‘Top 40′ bestselling pop albums.
On Sunday, 4 September 2011, Sony Music will air a television commercial to promote “My Heart”. Fingers crossed this, combined with your support will help encourage healthy sales and this project will be a BIG success. Just in case you are interested we have compiled a list of the rival acts who will be battling for a position on the UK album chart on the same week as the release of Doris’ new album.
