Sony Music UK executive Phil Savill comments on the release of Doris Day’s new hit album ‘My Heart’

September 12, 2011 3 Comments

Doris Day’s best-selling album ‘My Heart‘ was brought to you courtesy of a licensing deal which was done by the UK division of Columbia/Sony Music – the record label which the Hollywood star was originally signed to between 1947 and 1967.

We asked Phil Savill – the man who agreed the album for release across Europe – for his comments about working on such a landmark project of Doris Day’s recording career:

“I’m absolutely delighted to have been involved in the release of ‘My Heart’. I have been privileged to work on many great Doris Day albums over the years but I have to say ‘My Heart’ is really something special. Its always exciting when previously unreleased recordings finally see the light of day with an official release so we are hugely grateful to Ms. Day for sanctioning the release of this album. And of course not only have we got 12 fantastic tracks, for the first time in my memory, Ms. Day has spoken to the media about her music. The interest generated by the release of ‘My Heart’ in the press, on TV and radio and the amazing ‘Top 10′ chart position (Doris’ first ever UK Top 10 album) shows that she is adored not just by her loyal UK fans but by the wider British public – when you hear the quality of her beautiful vocals on ‘My Heart’ it is easy to understand why. I look forward to the album spending many more weeks in the Chart.”
