Universal Studios celebrate Doris’ 91st with a new 6 movie DVD set (featuring MIDNIGHT LACE!)

February 2, 2015 No Comments

It’s that time of year again when New Release schedules reveal what delights are to coincide with Doris Day’s April 3rd birthday!

The one which immediately caught our attention is this new 6-disc DVD set entitled ‘The Essential Collection‘ due for release April 7th, 2015 by Universal Studios USA. The big attraction here will be the inclusion of Doris Day’s 1960 thriller ‘MIDNIGHT LACE‘ (co-starring Rex Harrison) which until now has only received a limited release in the USA. The great news is if you pre-order the DVD set today from amazon.com you get it for $20.99US.

The set includes Doris’ three romantic comedies with Hollywood hunk Rock Hudson as well as one of her comedy pictures with James Garner plus her Hitchcock thriller ‘The Man Who Knew Too Much’ with James Stewart. The only negative thing we have to say about this well-priced set is the cover sleeve photograph has been ruined by tacky special effects – maybe the designers were having a bad day?!
