The British division of Sony Music are following up on the Top 10 success of Doris Day’s ‘My Heart’ album with a new “digitally remastered” music compilation.

The new album is due for release on Monday, 5 March 2012 and is a career spanning retrospective containing 25 recordings. These include hit singles and best album cuts from the 1950s and ’60s plus two songs from Ms. Day’s most recent hit album. We understand Ms. Day was involved on this project and gave her input on the song selection and cover artwork.

‘The Ultimate Collection’ is available now for pre-order from amazon.co.uk (UK) & amazon.com (USA) and will retail around £10 UK Pounds.

Doris Day’s hilarious comedy caper ‘Caprice‘ co-starring Richard Harris finally comes to DVD format in the UK on 5 March 2012.

The new ‘Region 2′ DVD is released on Second Sight Films but unlike the North American edition which came out in 2007 will not contain any bonus features.

In the fast paced comedy which is full of laughs and suspense Doris Day plays Patricia Fowler, a spy hired to work undercover at a cosmetics company to discover a new formula that the firm is planning to market. But it soon transpires make up is not the only product they’re selling, the company is involved in an international drug-smuggling ring and Patricia finds herself doing battle with ruthless agents. She joins forces with fellow spy Christopher White (Richard Harris) as the pair take on evil genius Stuart Clancy (Ray Walston).

Hollywood showbiz icon Doris Day -  received last night the Los Angeles Film Critics Association’s ‘Career Achievement Award’ – now she also has another distinction to her name, that of being the oldest living person to ever reach the ‘Top 150′ on the American Billboard Music Chart.

At 87 years old, Ms. Day has now officially surpassed George Burns and her dear friend crooner Tony Bennett following the December 2011 release of her US album, “My Heart.” Both performers held the honor at 84 and 85 years of age, respectively.

The 37th Annual Los Angeles Film Critics Association awards took place last night at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. Although Ms. Day did not attend the ceremony in person the association took great pleasure in formally announcing that she had won their 2011 Career Achievement Award. The tribute was announced in front of an audience of other legendary Hollywood guests.

“I want to thank the Los Angeles Film Critics Association for this wonderful award. I am so grateful and amazed that my work is still remembered. I loved making films and never thought of it as work. I once told my Mom that I would do it for nothing and she said, ‘Doris, I wouldn’t tell anyone that.’ But I never thought about the money, only about how much I loved performing. Thanks again. On the 30 April 2012, Universal Pictures celebrates its 100th anniversary and to celebrate the studio has revealed a restoration of 13 of its most iconic films which include Doris Day and Rock Hudson’s 1959 romantic comedy “Pillow Talk“.

We understand the newly restored film transfer of “Pillow Talk” will be released in North America on Blu-ray format on the 1 May 2012. This is notably the first ever Doris Day film to receive a Blu-ray release and the all new picture quality is described as “erupting with dazzling color and detail”.

Other titles to receive the special restoration treatment are “All Quiet on the Western Front”, “The Birds”, Abbott & Costello’s “Buck Privates”, “Dracula” (1931), the Spanish-language “Dracula” filmed on the same set at night, “Frankenstein”, “Jaws”, “Schindler’s List”, “Out of Africa”, “Bride of Frankenstein”, “The Sting” and “To Kill a Mockingbird”. The restorations, will be released throughout the studio’s year-long centennial celebration and took three to six months each and cost $250,000 to $600,000 per title.

We do hope Universal reverts to using the adorable 2003 “Pillow Talk” DVD Cover Sleeve we really were disappointed by the 2009 DVD cover. Leave your comments below!

With standard definition DVDs becoming less and less individually valuable, studios are opting to re-package their most popular catalogue titles into multi-disc sets without the premium price tag that used to be associated with a boxset. A fine example of this ever growing trend came about after the partnering of two American giants Warner Home Video with Turner Classic Movies. This resulted in a series of four-film ‘Region 1′ DVD sets under the guise of “TCM Greatest Classic Legends”.

Due out on the 13 March 2012 are three new sets from Warner/TCM which include one dedicated to darling Doris Day, Katharine Hepburn and Gangsters.

The new Doris Day set offers fans on a budget a wonderful array of pictures. These include her debut ROMANCE ON THE HIGH SEAS (1948), the much loved musical-western CALAMITY JANE (1953), the dramatic biopic LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME (1955) and fun family comedy PLEASE DON’T EAT THE DAISIES (1960).

Doris Day’s latest album ‘My Heart‘ is officially a chart hit in the USA after it made its debut on America’s Billboard chart at #135.

This is Ms. Day’s first album to appear on the Billboard 200 chart since her festive favourite release ‘ The Doris Day Christmas Album‘ charted at #97 over 44 years ago (in 1967).

As ‘My Heart’ was released across America by the Hollywood star’s own label Arwin Productions it also qualified as the highest new entry to debut on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart – where it charted at #8.

These new American chart positions follows on in the footsteps of Ms. Day’s ‘Top 10′ success a few months ago in the United Kingdom.
